The CELIA's diary in Hong Kong

Saturday 10TH MARCH

Today it was an all day trip to go to Hong Kong ! I was so excited because I had waited for this day to come for a very long time ! When we arrived in Singapore, it was so funny because we went into every beauty shop to put on some make-up but in the end, I realised that I had too much make-up on my face ! At night, we finally arrived in Hong Kong but we had lost our voices because we had been shouting in the planes, in the airports, EVERYWHERE… all day long !

I hope it will be an amazing trip !

Sunday 11TH MARCH

We visited Hong Kong all day long, we learnt lots of things about colonial buildings, some were interesting but others weren't. We also went to a botanical garden which was relaxing and pleasant because in this huge city there's not a lot of nature. In the streets we couldn't stop laughing about stupid things, but I think the people next to us didn't really appreciate that (especially Martine and Sarah). To go to Hong Kong city we took the ferry and on it we talked, laughed, took photos, as usual !

And then "shopping time" ! We went to a mall at the end of the day, but nothing caught my eye… While we were walking in the mall, we saw a giant guy and I told Noémie to stand next to him, so I could take a photo. It was so funny because just when I was taking the photo, the guy looked in my direction and I was so ashamed !

Finally that evening, after eating tons of calories at MacDonald's, we went to a night market which was crowded and unusual. In Balikpapan, we don't have this.

Monday 12TH MARCH

Today began with a difficult awakening because of a girl in my room (I won't say who). No, just joking !

After breakfast, we met students from a school in China, they were nice and with them we went to visit the Museum of coastal defence, which I think was well-presented.

And, oh… I forgot, today instead of walking we took the subway, but in it, we almost died running out of air because it was crowded !

After the museum, we went up to the 55th floor of the highest tower in Hong Kong from where we had a beautiful view.

At the end of this exciting afternoon, we went to Stanley market which was a bit like the other market we had gone to before.

In the evening, we went to the cinema and saw "Dreamgirls" which I thought was an excellent film with amazing songs.

Tuesday 13TH MARCH

In the morning we went to the Art museum which was interesting because it was all China's history. I preferred the part with all the paintings because each painting meant something, and they were all well-painted, I think.

After lunch, we took the cable car which was fun because we could see all Hong Kong from the sky ! Then we arrived at the feet of the Giant Buddha. This Buddha was amazing !

In the evening we ate at the Hard rock café's ! After the meal, I almost exploded because of my enormous salad, not to mention a few chips and a giant and delicious ice cream ! We listened to the band, and then we raced to the hotel and you know what ? I arrived first !

Wednesday 14TH MARCH

After an awful night, I woke up with a ghost's face which wasn't pleasant to see !

After breakfast, we took a boat for a 2 hours' trip. It was great because we could see all of Hong Kong city.

Then we left our suitcases at the Ibis hotel. The rooms were so small that we could barely breathe ! (No, just joking !)

To go to Victoria's Peak, we took a sort of train but I was scared in it. There was a superb view from the Peak but it wasn't as exceptional as I thought it would be.

That night, we met up with all the other students and they all seemed older than us but some of them looked nice.

Thursday 15TH MARCH

After a great sleep (for once), I had my first "Theatre class". I thought it was fun. We started with games to learn everyone's name and then we did exercises which consisted in expressing feelings into positions. To finish the class with, the teacher taught us a few dance steps which weren't easy to do ! (but I tried my best.)

After lunch, we all gathered in the auditorium to see and comment on the work of some groups. What they had done was very interesting and very different from our play.

Just before dinner, we saw a theatrical performance by the teachers. I thought it was well-played but I didn't really like the story.

We had dinner in a Chinese restaurant where we had so much fun, but the food wasn't good !

Friday 16H MARCH

Today's theatre exercises were fun because we learnt how to walk without going forward (but I can't do it ! ), then we did many improvisation games in groups of one or two.

After lunch, it was our turn to perform but before us the Shanghai students performed a really good play.

We made a few mistakes but the audience seemed to like it and after acting, I was relieved !

That evening, we went to another Chinese restaurant on Lamma Island. Before going back to the hotel, I bought candies and Sarah loved them !

Saturday 17H MARCH

I was tired this morning because I think the theatre lessons are exciting but they are really exhausting.

In the morning we didn't have theatre practice as usual, we went to discover Hong Kong, but I didn't really enjoy it because we had already done this just a few days before and I would have preferred to have had theatre lessons.

Just before lunch, each group had to present a small play that they had prepared the day before. In my group, we all had to act with a chair, but it could represent anything.

After lunch, the last groups showed us their performances, they were all excellent but in the end, I almost fell asleep !

In the evening, we said goodbye to everyone and then we went to the night market where I bought better presents for my parents.

Sunday 18H MARCH

OOOOOh, it's too sad ! Bye bye Hong Kong, hello again Balikpapan !

We woke up at 4:30 am (except the two who were late), then we took the bus to go to the airport and on the way I had a very interesting conversation about spirits with Joséphine, even though it was 5:00 am and we were so tired !

In the plane, nothing really exciting happened apart from the fact that I had to go from toilets to toilets in order to finish my work because I didn't want to bother the man next to me.

In Singapore, we all put some make-up on, like at the beginning of this trip. It was hilarious but my parents didn't like it !

I'm in Balikpapan now, I'm sad because the trip is over but I'm glad to be back home again !

I would like to thank my two teachers, Martine Morelet and Sarah Colmache for this excellent trip. I had so much fun and also being in charge of 15 teenagers must be very difficult, so :

Thank you for everything !!!
